In Finland, teachers engage in what they call "Peer Group Mentoring" to gather and learn from each other and better improve their roles as teachers. These "teacher teams" meet regularly and the teachers seek to help and learn from each other. Newer teachers can especially benefit from this as it provides them the environment to seek the advice and expertise of their more experienced colleagues to help address the challenges they face.

In "How to Get a Job at Google," a recent New York Times article by Thomas L. Friedman, the senior vice president of people operations for Google, Laszlo Bock, was quoted saying that Google determined that "G.P.A.'s are worthless as a criteria for hiring, and test scores are worthless. ... We found that they don't predict anything." Without discounting that high marks help, especially in the technical subjects that indicate proficiency in areas that reflect applicable skills, Bock goes on to share what Google really looks for in new hires.

Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it is the only thing.
Leadership is unlocking people’s potential to become better.
As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.
A good leader is one who can tell another how to reach his or her potential; a great leader is one who can help another discover this potential for him or herself.
The supreme quality of leadership is integrity.
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership.
The task of the leader is to get his people from where they are to where they have not been.
The task of leadership is not to put greatness into people, but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already.
Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.
A great leader’s courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position.
A leader is one who sees more than others see, who sees farther than others see, and who sees before others see.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.
If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves.
Leadership is a combination of strategy and character. If you must be without one, be without the strategy.
Leadership is the capacity to transform vision into reality.
Education is the mother of leadership.
